New Town

crissteaphoto Study, eat, dress, sleep.

While I try my best to focus on the present moment, it is quite hard. Often I feel that the time is too short. The whole study period seems that is never-ending. At university courses become more and more difficult, many projects which occupy most of my time. I wish I could do so many things. I make countless lists and I hope that I will accomplish all of them, one at a time. I tell myself every time that all will pass and that I will have some time for myself, that nothing is permanent.

Making a list with the things that we enjoy motivates us and reminds us never to stop working on achieving them.

One of the things on my list was to go out one day every week. As you know,  sedentary occupations lead to depression and too much learning can do you harm.

A change of scenery is always welcomed.

Small trips refresh the mind and the spirit, any trip relaxes you, calms you. Every trip means freedom and doesn’t let you fall into a routine and boredom.  Once you leave for your own desire and pleasure and you enjoy every moment you will forget about your tiredness. On the road all your thoughts and worries will be left behind you. Enjoy a change in scenery even if you travel to the neighbouring town. Let yourselves charmed by the beauty of the landscapes, admire the architecture of buildings, find a gorgeous pub and enjoy a great coffee because life is meant to be lived at its fullest.

crissteaphoto Visiting a New Town is always a good idea. The photos that I showcased were taken in Bistrita, a town situated at 124 km from Cluj where I live.

Have a nice journey!

P.S.: Write me where do you want to travel, inside or out of the country and tell me how it was.

  1. In a few words and pics you said A LOT! Brilliant post. When you are young it is easy to get caught up in studies – thinking the highest mark is so important and somehow validates who you are and you can lose perspective. Age teaches you that time and health is more precious than anything.

  2. Smart. Getting out from under the work load for a while is a good idea. Sometimes, life is all about balance. Something I need to work on 🙂

Lately, I’ve been thinking Ireland. Not possible right now for family reasons, but as soon as I can, I’m on a plane. The Irish know about balance.

  3. Love the photos and the way that you use them to bring your main points to life.

If I could go anywhere right now I would escape to the countryside of Ireland. Peace and quite with good scenery is what I desire most at this time in my life!

  4. Nice textures in the rumpled shirt. Enjoyed the variety of personal expression. Third shot is fantastic. Close-up of shoes and bag while you rummaged in the latter would have been nice.

I miss hiking. Hopefully wet weather in California will make it less depressing this year.

It doesn’t have to be like that and sometimes isn’t, but in praxis, sedentary occupations tend to be exploitative and lots of learning leads to seeing many ugly things about society, too, which can be good or bad. Everything depends on the context, our life circumstances, and based on that, we have to find balance. When whatever we do is motivated by fear/pain, it’s likely to create more imbalance.

  6. Hey, lovely photos! I had no idea that Bistrita was so beautiful – but then I live in a small town that has its small beautiful secrets and I shouldn’t be so surprised.
I’ve travelled in Bulgaria a lot but it’s never enough, there are always places to go and stuff to see. My latest aim is the city of Kazanlak, the Russian church in Shipka village and the Shipka monument. And if I have to be fair, I’ve been stumbling over the idea of visiting Bucuresti over the past two years. I hope I can get to that trip this year.
I love your outfit but the Mom jeans are the best part of it!

  7. Very true! I did a masters degree for 1 1/2 year and I felt just like you said. All my time was for reading & writing, plus I had a job. I was tired and bored in a way. But as you said, that will pass too. And you will have the time for doing new things. Glad you could travel a bit. I enjoy your blog 🙂

  13. How very interesting you living in Romania. I have travelled as far as Budapest, which is a beautiful old city, I just love the architecture. And at one time I was even considering retiring to either Bulgaria or Romania. But I think I would rather visit your country, it has that sense of aesthetics that appeals to me. Oh, I should tell you, those blue sun glasses are wrong, the lenses are too large for your face. It’s the proportions that are wrong.

  14. Hi Ramona, thanks for checking out my blog. Yours is so inspiring and I love the photographs in this post. Blue is my absolute favourite colour because it makes me feel calm and I think of the sea. I love how the different textures come alive in the photos. Finding balance in life is a difficult task. I tend to overwork myself when I study and judge myself by my performance. I’m trying to be better by being nicer and more patient with myself. Thanks for a great blog. Sofia x
